What changes when the generator goes quiet

Most site generators spend their day running far below capacity, burning fuel to stay ready for a peak that lasts seconds. A battery covers the peak and only draws what the site actually uses.

Diesel generator AMPD battery system
Operating cost Burns fuel every hour it runs, including the long stretches at light load. Runs on stored energy charged from the grid, a smaller generator or solar. Up to 80% lower operating cost.
Emissions CO₂, NOx, particulates and SO₂ released where your crew is working. Up to 90% lower carbon footprint and zero direct NOx, particulate or SO₂ emissions on site.
Noise Constant engine noise that restricts night work and urban sites. About 30 times quieter than a diesel generator, so crews can hear each other and neighbours can sleep.
Refuelling and service Fuel deliveries, on-site storage, spill risk and regular engine servicing. Refuelling reduced or eliminated, fewer service visits and less fuel handled beside the crew.
Visibility An hour meter and a fuel log. Live load, energy and emissions data online, with automated reports for your sustainability targets.

Figures are AMPD Energy's, compared with diesel generators of similar capacity. Actual savings depend on your load profile, fuel price and charging source. We model them for your site in every proposal.

Two units, sized for real site loads

Both run at 480 V three-phase, 60 Hz, and both are available to purchase or rent through Northern Pacific Partners. Larger sites combine units.

1 One cycle is a full charge and full discharge. Rated cell life is not the same as warrantied cycles. 2 Actual weight depends on the options fitted. Specifications are from AMPD Energy data sheets, Rev 1.2 (January 2026), and may change. Ask us for the current sheet.

Three ways a unit fits into your site power

Each unit ships with a microgrid controller already installed and configured, so it works with whatever supply you have.

Small grid service, big loads

The unit charges steadily from a modest utility service and delivers the peaks your equipment demands. On a Hong Kong high-rise, an AMPD system drawing no more than 30 A from the grid ran two tower cranes.

Alongside your generator

The unit parallels with a generator, so the engine can run at an efficient load to charge the battery and stay off the rest of the time. Works with DEIF, ComAp, DeepSea and SmartGen controllers.

Solar and off-grid

An optional 60 kW direct-DC solar input charges the battery straight from the array, for remote sites where every litre of fuel has to be hauled in.

Connected around the clock

Every unit reports over 4G to Enernet, AMPD's online platform: live data, automated energy and emissions reports, and software updates delivered over the air.

Built for hard sites

Liquid-cooled, with built-in aerosol fire suppression and C3 corrosion protection (C4 optional). The AMPD 200 is fully sealed and rated IP55; the AMPD 400 is rated IP54.

Safe by design

LFP cells from CATL, a modular architecture with built-in redundancy, and a Category 1 arc-flash hazard rating.

Industries we supply across Canada

Anywhere a diesel generator runs for months at a time, there is a case to look at.

  • Oil and gas

Wellsites, camps and facility turnarounds. Pair a unit with the generators you already run so they stop idling at light load.

  • Mining and exploration

Camps, dewatering pumps and ventilation at sites where fuel is trucked or flown in at a premium.

  • Infrastructure

Tunnelling, bridge and transit work. Units built for dust, long shifts and sites with limited utility service.

  • Commercial construction

Tower cranes, hoists and site power on dense urban sites, where a small grid connection and a battery can stand in for a large generator.

  • Events

Stage, broadcast and concession power without generator noise or exhaust beside the crowd.

  • Marine and ports

Terminal equipment, shipyard work and vessel-side power, with enhanced C4 corrosion protection available.

  • Rail

Yard, maintenance and track-side power that relocates with the work by crane or forklift.

  • Wind

Site power for turbine construction, commissioning and maintenance, far from the nearest grid connection.

Global figures from AMPD Energy.

Two tower cranes on one battery, at 85% lower fuel cost

On a 45-storey tower in North Point, Hong Kong, Hip Hing Construction ran two Liebherr tower cranes from a single 400 kVA AMPD system in place of two 400 kVA diesel generators.

  • 85% lower fuel cost
  • 81% less CO₂
  • No more than 30 A drawn from the grid
  • Battery stayed above 90% charge throughout

Source: AMPD Energy case study APHK2002. The project used AMPD's Enertainer system; the AMPD 200 and AMPD 400 are the company's next-generation range. Savings were calculated against local diesel and electricity prices.

A Canadian partner that knows site power

Turnkey, from load study to switch-on, with one Canadian contact for the whole job.

  • Load review and sizing

We work from your equipment list, run hours and fuel records to recommend an AMPD 200, an AMPD 400 or a combination.

  • Engineered integration

Tie-in to grid, generator or solar, plus the distribution between the unit and your loads.

  • Purchase or rental

Buy units outright or rent them for the length of the job.

  • Delivery and commissioning

We coordinate freight, set-down and start-up with your site team and show your operators how to run the unit.

  • Support in Canada

One contact for monitoring, service and the five-year manufacturer warranty.

From first call to powered site

  1. Tell us about your site

Send the form below. A few details about the project and what you are powering is enough to start.

  2. Site power survey

We send a short survey covering loads, run hours, grid access and what you spend on fuel today.

  3. Proposal

You get a unit recommendation, a deployment plan and a cost comparison against your current generator setup.

  4. Delivery and commissioning

We deliver, connect and commission the unit with your site team, then stay on as your support contact.

Questions we hear first

Can I rent a unit, or do I have to buy?

Either. Tell us which you prefer in the quote form and we will price it that way. If you are unsure, we can show both side by side.

How does the unit recharge?

From the grid, from a generator or from solar. The AMPD 200 accepts up to 205 kW of charging power and the AMPD 400 up to 410 kW, but most sites charge at a much lower rate from a small utility service or a right-sized generator.

Will it replace my generator completely?

That depends on your loads and what you have available to charge from. With a grid connection, often yes. On fully off-grid sites the unit usually works with a smaller generator that runs far fewer hours. We size this for you before you commit to anything.

How do the units handle Canadian winters?

The AMPD 200 is rated to operate down to −30 °C and the AMPD 400 down to −20 °C. If your site sees colder conditions, tell us in the form and we will review placement and protection with AMPD's engineers.

Our equipment runs at 600 V. Does that work?

The units supply 480 V three-phase at 60 Hz. For 600 V equipment a transformer is added between the unit and your distribution. We size it as part of the site survey.

How are the units moved?

Each unit is lifted by its corner castings or its forklift pockets. The AMPD 200 weighs up to 5,490 kg and the AMPD 400 up to 9,030 kg, so plan for a crane or a suitably rated forklift or telehandler at set-down.

Contact us for a quote

Tell us about the site and what you need to power. We will follow up to confirm the details and start your proposal.
